www.drhorrible.comWow! I am SO excited about this. I was amused when I first heard about it. As I found out who was in it, I got interested, and the fan-hype machine has whipped me into a frothy frenzy. Well, not quite, but by July 15th when the first episode airs, it will be.
I am pretty sure nobody ever reads this, but if you do MARK THAT DATE! and on July 15th watch the episode for free, then go out and buy it, from iTunes, Amazon, or anywhere that is selling it. It won't cost you much, but if every fan drops $2 on each episode then the production will prove it is viable on the Net. And that's important folks. VERY VERY important.
Wow...truth really is as simple as that.

I'll only note that the overlap of stupidity and politics results in Democrats as well. lets just relable that as "Professional Politicians" and leave it at that.
Wow! a celebrity who remembers where she came from.

MARY J. Blige has a heart the size of her record sales. Last week, Blige was at the Diane von Furstenberg store in the Meatpacking District when she overheard a girl having a problem at the register. A spy said, "The girl had a dress on hold that she loved, and the bill was $900. She thought it was only $500, and she couldn't afford it." Blige told the saleswoman, "Go get the girl. I want to pay for the balance on the dress." The customer at first declined Blige's offer but relented after the singer said, "I know what it's like to want something and not be able to have it. I insist." The customer wanted to send her a check for the balance, but Blige said, "Just enjoy it. I'm blessed, so let me do this."

So far I have Three people coming for the phantom screening of Serenity. Three. It'll be a cozy time, and I hope that more will come, but for now the count is at three
C. David Dent to {a bunch of people}
I sent invites to some online friends, and I'll invite you guys and your families too!
I am sponsoring A "Phantom Screening" of the movie Serenity on June 21st at 1pm at the house.
The weekend of June 21st is the "Can't Stop the Serenity" weekend that commemorates Joss Whedon's Birthday and where fans organize showings of the film Serenity to raise money for Equality Now.
The screening is free, but I'll have a coffee can with a slot and I'd ask that you drop in $10 each (The price of a movie ticket) as a donation to this worthwhile charity.
After the movie if anyone wants to we can watch some Doctor Who. What do you say?
Drop me an RSVP if you plan to attend. I have a link to the paypal and to Equality Now on http://wildandbad.com:8181/index.php?id=39

Mary Dent to Me
I went in to see and it had some information about equality for women in the world. Is this to support the UN Millenium 'Development Goals? couldn't be sure after reading the blurb?

Just Now
Me to Mary Dent
While Equality Now supports the Millennium Goals of the UN they are an independent organization who works through education and presenting cultural alternatives. This is from their site:
Equality Now uses international law and United Nations mechanisms to advance the elimination of violence and discrimination against women. As a non-governmental organization with UN consultative status, Equality Now interacts in various ways with diverse UN bodies including the UN Human Rights Committee, CEDAW (Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women), and the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). Equality Now has also convened two "Arria Formula" meetings to bring peace activists from Afghanistan and the Middle East directly to the UN Security Council.
This stuff is all on the Equality Now Website. I suppose the question you are asking is really, "Why Equality Now?"
Equality now is the "favored" charity of Joss Whedon who created Firefly and Serenity. This is a fandom-related event and it is sort of a "theme". It is really just an excuse to have some friends over and watch a movie...but if we raise $50 bucks for a worthy cause, then thats even better. "Can't Stop The Serenity" (The Theme of which I spoke...think "Trick or Treat for UNICEF" but with Browncoats and Women instead of Halloween and Children)in 2006 raised $65,900, in 2007 raised $106,000 and have set the bar at over $500,000 for this year. And I thought I'd like to show a movie...and raise $50.00. Heck, I raised over $100 for St. Luke's, this should be child's play! (Oh Wait, that's A Different Charity).
Wordle is very cool
Wordle makes word clouds. It seems like a simple thing to do, but frankly it isn't. It makes it even harder when the object of the exercise is artistic rather than informational. Wordle does a nice job with some interesting options. I'd like to be able to drag and drop words within the cloud, but that isn't a feature...yet.

The above image is made from the text of HPATPS came from wattpad. Frankly, I was surprised at how easy it was to find online.
Can't Stop The Serenity June 21st
There will be a screening of "Serenity" at my home on June 21st to raise money for Equality Now as part of the Can't Stop the Serenity efforts.
If you need directions or want to attend, please RSVP to MrDave21764-at-gmail.com and you are asked (but not required) to donate $10.00 (or more) per person to Equality Now.
If you want to donate to them use either the EN contribution form or donate $10.00 through me using the button below. I've set a modest goal of $50.00 but if we raise more that's fantastic!
