12 oz of Ground Beef
1 package of Apple & Cinnamon Instant Oatmeal
1 Tbl Ketsup or Tomato Paste
1 Tbl Steak Sauce or
1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 medium onion finely chopped (about 1 cup)
- Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl until everything is uniformly blended together.
- Form 1.5 inch balls of the mix and place on a microwave-safe plate.
- Microwave 2 mins. Re-arrange balls.
- Cook 2 more mins. Drain plate. Re-arrange balls.
- Cook 1-2 mins as needed.
Balls may be served with sauce, cheeese, made into a sandwich or just eaten as is.
Makes about 10 balls.
Using the Tomato Paste and Worchestershire is healthier than the Ketchup and Steak Sauce. Ketchup and Steak Sauce have high-fructose corn syrup in them.
I find that leaner meat means you don’t have to cook them as much. 93% lean cooks in less time than 80% lean. If may need to drain your plate after the first microwaving. I find that the meat-juice goes well into homemade tomato sauce.
